Translation of last paragraph by Marjon Fliterman
Another project is “Can Control 3: Eindhoven (temporary empire)”of Kim Schoenstadt who lives and works in Los Angeles. She made an impressive wall painting with canvas in the “eye” of the museum. This is the curved space which is closed with a wall of glass and connects the museum with the café. In this “aquarium” a lot of works are shown which performs a chaos on the first face.
Kim Schoenstadt created her work in four parts. Firstly she asked her friends and the “friends” of the Van Abbemuseum to send in a word, shape or symbol. After that she made a drawing with black tape containing references to the modernist architecture and to Abel Cahen’s design of the museum.
A third step was to invite local artists from Eindhoven to help her with the execution of the received instructions. The last step was to remove the tape, to reveal a “white” architectural process which makes order out of the work. The artistic process of this complex work is captured in her site:

It is simply a splashing show with cooperation of artists friends of Kim Schoenstadt. Lawrence Weiner send her the statement “there is no need for anonymity”; John Baldessari gave her a “nose” and the painter David Reed remembered her with a painted paint strip. It is a work in which architecture and many references to art
swarm to a fantastic apotheosis of contemporarism.
The fact this this work was developed as a “team work” expresses Kim Schoenstadt also a “architect”...
